HELP! Vintage Typewriter Case won't Open

I would show you a picture of this beautiful old typewriter, but the keys to the case don't seem to open it. I would like to preserve the case and would rather not destroy it. Is there any advice on how I can open it? Please let me know if I am doing something wrong.
