My dad pulled this from my grandfathers old work bus? I am interested in finding out about this it's adorable and seems to be in good shape but I'm not sure?

Yep ... it's a Kodak Baby Brownie Special. It was introduced Sept. 1939 and discontinued in 1954. It used 127 roll film and made 1-5/8" x 2-1/2" pictures.
And is there anyway I would be able to tell if it is broken?
The only thing that might not work is the shutter. The best way to test is hold the camera up to a bright light source, look at the red window and shoot the shutter. If it works, you should see a brief flash of light. However, I don't know if the shutter is 'cocked' by winding the film. See you don't have any film, maybe turn the winding knob to see if it stops ... if yes, the shutter probably cocked. The only other thing that could go bad is if the plastic body has a crack; which would create a light leak. But before you open the camera, check to see if there's film in it. You would see some numbers or paper under the red window. If there is film, try to wind the film all the way to the end. You can then open the camera safely and remove the film. There should be a small white paper tab to lick and glue to keep the film from unrolling. There are places that can still develop outdated film.
