We have set of 4 all-wood "kitchen chairs" (my late mother's description) which my parents acquired from a yard sale or thrift shop while living in New England during WWII - sometime between 1942-1945. All she said was that the person they bought them from said 'they are very old'. Growing up in the '50s we kids banged them around, stood on them, used them as painting ladders and they are tough. They appear to be hand made with hand painted decoration (severly faded). We have the full set of four. Seats are 16 inches from floor, backs are 32 inches high, except one chair whose back is 30 inches from floor. I can find no nails; the spindles are all unique (all parts appear to be hand made). If anyone can identify them, greatly appreciate it!

Anybody know a collector of early American handmade furniture who might be able to give any insight on what these chairs are--or recommend someone who might be an expert in that area??

Have you ever found out anything about these chairs. I have some a lot like them - my parents got them about the same time yours did. no nails, etc
