I bought this awesome huge antique store display in Spokane, WA.
It appears to be mounted on muslin just like an old child's muslin book and is about 8 feet long. There is a Saalfield's muslin book in Santa's sleigh which leads me to believe that it was a display/advertising piece for Saalfield's. I can't quite figure out what it is. It looks like it was meant to be laid flat like a tablecloth? I have looked all over the internet for something even remotely similar with no luck. I would LOVE to know more about it!
I found out this is a muslin Christmas carpet indeed from the early 1900's.
