Welch Scales and weights

Hi, I'm after some information on these items which I have been lucky to receive of my late gran.

I believe the sacles are welch but I cant find any info on them.

The first weight is william the IV era and from cornwall. It weighs 8oz. What interests me about this weight though is the M & S stamp on it.

The second weight is a complete mystery as it bears a strange animal shape, possibly a sheep or a horse and is stamped vr298.

I'm hoping that someone here will have some knowledge to send me off in the right direction to look for info.
