This old pole (being used to hold a basketball goal) was in our yard when we moved in 28 years ago. The previous home owner worked for an oil company. I suspect it is an oil advertising sign.
It is very heavy duty. The part holding the goal is "U" shaped and seems to go with the pole.
Can anyone confirm that it is an oil advertising sign pole?
