This dish appears to be a compote or serving dish but with the look of the base of the round bowl it could be something very different and seems to be missing something. The smaller square dish has a cover that does not fit well and lets light and air into the dish. Also, the pattern on this piece is on the underside of the lid and looks almost like leaf fronds or maybe fern. Please help me identify this beautiful piece. Thank you in advance for your help.
PS. I still don't know what this is. The more I look at it the more I think it might be a bowl or compote that goes onto an underplate. The kind that is very flat with the cut design on the underside. I have seen these before and it dawned on me that this might go to something like that. So tell me what you think....TallCakes I would really appreciate any input that you have. Thanks much.
Almost forgot, the third pic is of the inside/underside of the lid that is on the bowl.
