Japanese hand carved mural bar

I acquired this piece from a friend that could no longer store it due to moving. She said that it was hand carved by her great grandfather in the early 1900's in Japan and that he had imported it here when he immigrated to America. I have no clue the value if this piece, type of wood it is made out of, or how to restore it. It has two shelves and a drawer in the center section behind the bar and the left and right sides have cabinet doors that open with two shelves of storage space.
