This Dish is 12 inches long and 4 and three quarter inches wide. Gilded with gold, which is raised off of the China, this item was found in a box full of other house hold dishes plates, cups ex cetera, how it lasted as long as you did I'll never know but I have it now. I have the faintest idea what it used for, it looks old because it looks a little yellow. But if anybody can help I'd appreciate it.

Thank you for the welcome gentlemen, I just stumbled on to the sight snd was excited when I saw all the knowledgeable folk speaking on a variety of things. I am still scratching the surface of my collection. I'm excited to post more things and it's a treasure hunt all over again. ;-) 0

There's a similar dish on the Ebay section here for Nippon and it's called a dresser tray. I'm not really sure that's what it is because I have a few trays but none with handles. I agree with the others, it looks like some part of a dinner service which contained so many more pieces than we have nowadays.

Was watching an Australian mystery series set back in the late 20's to 30's, "Miss Fisher" I think, and the butler was holding a tray exactly like this. I couldn't get a good look but it seemed there was some candy in it. Also interesting: some pottery items on shelves and mantles were either Nippon or good imitations. One vase shape, round with fluted top and three little feet and Moriage decoration, just had to be the real thing. Have seen similar pieces in each show where the crime takes place in a well-to-do home.
