My dad died some time ago i had to clean his flat out , on doing so i came across a knife in a leather sheath,it looks like a killing knife. the inscription on it read. sabatier jeune garanti on the blade with a bunch of grapes, Originaly there were two knifes, cant find the other one. Dad fought in north Africa during the war i think he brought them back with him, along with a german soldeirs documents.Iv tride to get more info on this knife but always come up with a kichen knife but you can tell it isnt. Can someone shed some light on this for me thankyou.

Hello. I have a set of antique dinner knives that my Dad left me when he passed. They have black wooden/ebony handles and are steel bladed with a stamp on the base that says “Garanti” and possibly “912” however, I’m not sure of the middle number, so perhaps that could have been the alloy content of some sort for the plating or the steel, I haven’t looked that up. I’m curious about these knives. They have a beautiful ornate metal bezel around the handle and the end of the handles are angled. I will try to figure out how to upload a photo. Does anyone happen to know anything about these?
