Has anyone seen one of these before?

This is basically solid marble & stands 100cm high. The base is 11cm diameter. It is in 3 pieces but still each piece is very heavy: the base & column, the disc, the orb. There is a channel carved out which runs under the base & up the column, through the disc. This allows for wiring a bulb to shine inside the orb. The inside of the orb has been machined out. I believe its a floor lamp, I put a bulb in it & yeah the orb lights up but I prefer it just as it is. I purchased this from a second-hand dealer as I fell in love with its beauty but would love to know at least something about its history. Thanks Lyn
