I would like information about this artist, F. W. Balkwill. He has a pencil drawing in a museum in Alberta, Canada.
These are oil paintings, I bought them in a second hand store in Salmon Arm, BC. The mountain goats is 18" X 14" and is signed and dated 1968. The labrador retriever is 12" X 16" and dated 1955. My favourite, the pack train, is 15" X 18" and dated 1937.
F.W. Balkwill was my grandfather died 1974 . He painted his entire life in wales alberta and b.c. If you want to ask something my mother is still alive.
Wow! Thank you danaseeker! It is wonderful to know anything at all about your grandfather. He was an accomplished painter with an eye for a good composition. Did he supplement his income by painting or was it strictly a hobby? My intuition suggests he may have recorded some great moments in outdoor history, as in the careful study of the pack train and rider.
Just wondering how much his paintings sell for?
