This is vintage hexagon metal mesh lampshade. Each panel has a figure on horse. The figure seems to be maybe knight. I am wondering if anyone knows what year this is from. It needs cleaning but I don't know how to clean it and I don't want to ruin it. Any suggestions.

Can anyone help me decide what year this was made and maybe who made these shades.

Have you put a light inside it to see what that looks like. Can you take a picture like that and add it (just hit edit then add it to it).
It has no centerpiece to attach to a harp so it looks like it would go on a floor model. Because of the material and the way it is made it looks to me like it could be commercial

I put a light under the shade. It is a delightful lampshade. If anyone can help me with information on this lampshade it would be greatly appreciated.

Hard to say what era, but its metal mesh that looks like its been screen printed. It reminds me of the Art Deco period in its colours and it well-made shape. Looks like an Art Deco craftsman or woman made it. In 1909, A.C. Pratt of Newark, New Jersey invented the mesh-making machine, so anytime between 1900 to the 1950's.

Art deco architecture, painting, etc. is recognizable because of three main things: distinct geometric shapes, intense, bright colors that stand out, and a decorative look. "Art Deco is characterized by a linear, hard edge or angular composition, often with a vertical emphasis, and highlighted with stylized decoration" (Blumenson 77). Also, Art Deco, while being decorative, is very simple, in that it doesn't have any complicated shapes. The Art Deco movement is also characterized by clean lines, streamlining, and symmetry.

I love these & have several- probably made by Rembrandt or Mutual Sunset in late 1920's.
