hi i have come into possession of this doll which has the peg like legs and arms etc. i am trying to identify it, it has markings on back of head C. W and you will notice that head and lower arms are porcelain and different texture from the main body and lower legs. it resembles the Johannes Daniel Kestner type dolls but am not sure if is from same family. any comments welcome thank you.

Hi she is a reproduction and was painted by a person with initial CW . I can see faint raised letters under the CW that would indicate which old mold they used to make her , She is on a new jointed composition body which you can buy at a doll making class or doll repair shop .
She looks like a reproduction doll that was made quite often. The original by French firm SFBJ (Societe Francaise de Fabrication de Bebes & Jouets. ) mold 252

These dolls were made in doll making classes or a ceramic studio in 1980's-90's at their peak . You got a blank mold and painted it and they fired it for you . They sold bodies, wigs ,eyes ect to you . You would make your won clothes or they also sold pre made clothes . During 80's and 90's Antique bisque dolls were selling very high pre internet sales . So many people made their own reproduction as cost of original could be in thousands of dollars . Now prices have fell in antique dolls and they sell to fit every budget from common dolls to rare high priced ones . Your doll will make a nice display piece but she was never a toy to play with she was always a collector doll.
