Thrift store today, I have a bad addiction when it comes to ugly lamps and I couldn't walk away from this one. The top lights up the red glass, and the base lights up from within.
I'd like to know what kind of shade it came with. Says Japan on the bottom.

It really does look like a lot of old oil lamp parts put together as an electric lamp. Sometimes a company will utilize it's ancient stock as parts in a newer item. Highly probable if it says Japan on the bottom. At any rate, I like it, too. I was just on ebay looking at 'antique oil lamps' and they have lots of lamps with shades that would look nicely on your lamp. It could give you some ideas if you took a look at ebay. Good luck...
