Labels help me group pieces. Remember, since there are no books, I am trying to make educated guesses as to how it was.

Initially I thought that the RED LABEL was the oldest, followed by the PALETTE LABEL, and then the BLACK LABEL. The pieces just "looked" older! However, when you look at WEEPING GOLD you get a different picture. Gold was $32 an ounce. WEEPING GOLD was prevelant at many potteries. McCoy called it BROCADE while others called it WEEPING BRIGHT GOLD. When gold became more expensive, the potteries changed to GOLD SPLATTER or GOLD SPATTER and then to a BRUSHED GOLD .

With that in mind, I am going with PALETTE LABEL as the oldest label. The BLACK LABEL covers the transition from WEEPING GOLD to SPLATTER GOLD to BRUSHED GOLD. Much of the RED LABEL has no gold at all and is only WHITE SPLATTER.
