What is this table?

Can anyone tell me about this table? I don’t have any idea if the timeframe or even it it was designed to be a console table or something else? The metal base seems to have been originally a brass finish but is fading to silver. There is a glass top over wood (it came with a fabric piece under the glass). It’s very heavy. I think it’s shaped a bit like a ironing board! Not as big. Anyone? Thks.
