This chair is 32" high and 22" wide. Purchased in the 40's? How would you describe this 3 legged arm chair?

Hi I looked it up and Herman Miller had some three legged chairs. Eames and George Nelson designed them. These ones are molded plastic called Coconut chair and shell chair. Hope that helps.
