    (1 item)

Found at deserted homestead in British Columbia, brass, 1 1/16 inch diameter.
Inscribed: SAVE THE FOREST and FOREST SERVICE CANADA
Homestead has been deserted since 1939, item should be prior to that. Thought to be a cover for a access hole for a gas lantern, but Coleman expert said not from them. Coleman made special lamps in the '30s for US Forest service, and thought to have for Canada, too.

buttons on side are spring loaded, and when buttons are squeezed, the tabs move inward. [one tab is broken off]

I wonder if it came off of a piece of firefighting equipment, possibly a backpack sprayer.

Thanks very much for responding. An acquaintance has also suggested this, and I'm checking that out.
      Thanks again.

Item is a pipeguard, clips on top of a smokers pipe to prevent embers falling when working outside.
