This is a vintage 1960's rustic wood nutcracker and picks (4) set made by the H.M. Quackenbush Company, Herkimer, NY
-- Henry Quackenbush (1847-1933) was an American industrialist. He founded the H. M. Quackenbush Company, a metal finishing company in Herkimer, NY, now called Whyco Finishing Technologies. He patented the extension ladder in 1867 and helped standardize shot size in guns. His company produced many models of air rifles. Quackenbush invented the spring-jointed nutcracker in 1913, of which perhaps 200 million were made. Metal nutcrackers seen today marked with HMQ or QBC were made by Quackenbush's company.
