A truly historic and unique 11"x11" glass window sign used in early telephone booths maintained by "The Long Distance Company" officially referred to as American Telephone& Telegraph Company or AT&T. This company was founded in 1885 to provide long distance service only and was a subsidiary of The American Bell Telephone Company until 1900, when ATT became the "mother" company or MA BELL. This sign design was introduced in 1889 and was the basis for the long lasting Bell seal still used by a few telecommunication companies. This particular sign was found locked in a trunk after being stored for sixty years in Oregon. It was placed in service sometime after 1889.
