I think the form is called a "slipper chair".
I have one almost exactly like it, and I believe vetraio50 is correct. It's a showframe slipper chair, for ladies to sit on while they put on their shoes, or "slippers."
From the pictures I'll guess its Victoria, maybe mahogany.
I have one that we all fought over to sit in, the curved back was sooo comfortable!
