Silver acorn tree

My husband received this sterling silver acorn tree when his father passed away. It was purchased in the 1950's at a antique store in London, England. Stands 20 inches high and the base is 8 inches round and has 5 tree branches. Has several acorns and a lot of detail for the bark. It does have several markings on it as shown in the picture and also has a signature but could not get a good picture. Looks like (3) L's or (3) E's and then another name under that. Anything you could help me with would be greatly appreciated, as I don't even know what the markings represent.
