    It's BEAUTIFUL, but it looks like it might collapse if you sat in it. Not so. It's solid as a rock and actually comfortable. Solid oak, of course, but wasn't so perfect when I found it at a St. Vincent's store in Spokane, WA years ago. The back looked as tho someone had tried to break down a brick wall with it. Part of the top detail was completely gone. My husband thought I was crazy when I paid $5 for it. Worse yet, when we got back to the car, the battery was dead. I'd forgotten to turn off the key. I'll never forget ! \
    But I took an old oak table leaf to a woodworker. He cut out a new back for me and I finished and weathered it to match. LOVE this chair.

      Interesting.....oak. Could you add a few shots of the bottom under the seat and one of the joints?
