    Well the title pretty much sums it up. But considering this info is coming from the govt, I'm not taking it all at "face value". I mean back then, they acted as if a nuclear attack was "survivable". We all know today that's just not the case.

      I doubt the Goverment has become any more "Trust Worthy" since then.

      That small wooden school desk should protect you from the hazards of a nuclear attack! Trust us!
      Just be sure to wash up afterwards with plenty of soap and water.
