Received the navy items in the mail yesterday from the wife of a deceased Navy Veteran. He was aboard the USS Van Voorhis a Destroyer
Escort (DE-1028). What caught my eye is the chief's hat emblem with one star at the top I know this is a senior chief, but when was the star moved from the above the "S" to the top of the anchor. Included are the older dog tags with the notch at the bottom.
