This is a set that goes back to my early days of coin collecting. In pic one is what is called The Walker Short Set (which consists of all the dates and mints from 1941 to 1947). On page two of this 2-page album is another 20 assorted silver half dollars. It actually represents the entire different kinds of silver half dollars used in the 20 century. Each half dollar is 90% silver and 10% copper. A U.S. silver half dollar contains .36369 ounces of pure silver making the 40 you see here (20-per-page) approx 14 and one half ounces of silver. But the coins are worth a little more for their numismatic value. The Walking Liberty half dollar was minted from 1916 through 1947. The Franklin half from 1948 through 1963 and the Kennedy half from 1964 to present. The other half dollar you see is a Barber half and it was minted starting in 1892 and ended in 1915.

Also very cool. At today's silver prices, just the silver alone is worth better than $11.00 for each coin. And that's not taking into the fact that some of yours may have numismatic value as well. hang on to those and buy all you can afford. You will not be sorry.

I have about 40-50 Mercury dimes as well.

They're worth over $2.20 each just in silver. Buy another 40-50 if you can. The best way to invest in silver today is to buy the Kennedy halves that were minted between 1965 and 1970. They can be had often at below the spot price and are 40% silver. Right now they are about $5 each but a very inexpensive way for the little guy to invest in silver. Which by the way, will far out perform gold on a percentage basis. Thanks for the comment and good luck in all of your collections.
P.S. Don't forget to buy more silver. Especially on this latest pullback.

Some great info Bahamaboy, thanks! I have a whole bag of Kennedy halves, I'll have to check the dates.

Thanks JDimmock. Any Kennedy's dated 1964 are 90% silver and worth at least $12-$14 ea and the 1965-1970 are the 40%ers worth $5+ Both are great. Thanks again for the comment.
