this is a three-footed, three-sided vase. I am unsure if this is a real nippon vase.
can't seem to find any similarly shaped vases for this type.
mark seems to be real, picture not the best, sorry. seems very plain also, with no gold at all. any ideas?

just added pics of top of vase. tried to get better pic of"m" to no avail. it is oriented correctly, just hard to see.

The design definitely looks like Nippon; sailboats were a common theme. But it's hard to tell what the mark is. It looks like the M in a wreath except the M is oriented wrong. Are the things around the inner letter dolphins? A better shot would help. And maybe a shot of the top of the vase. It looks like the vase used to have a cover but that would mean the inner top rim would be rough. This is a beautiful vase, though, definitely a keeper.

(No gold doesn't mean it's not Nippon. The design determined if gold was added; or maybe the painter's mood!)
