I would love to know the age of this item as I have looked at every possible reference online and can not find any information or image of this type of shaver. The tiny print at the base of the cylinder under the word Sheffield is hard to make out but looks like B.W. & M.L. Mansfield. It was purchased from a deceased estate at the Central Coast NSW Australia recently. I like it because it's the complete kit with instructions In it's own brand cylinder.

This razor is a copy of Kampfe style razors, usually these were made in Germany, but some were made in England and the U.S. The tiny print is probably the mfr of the blade tin. The vintage is around 1900. Several Similar razors were: Charlex (France?), Comfort (Germany), Mohican and Winner (U.S.). You have quite a rarity and the condition is excellent and the paper is a bonus.
see: lulu.com/spotlight/razors for paperback books and ePub book that might be of interest.
