      This stein was manufactured by the Albert Jac. Thewalt Company which began producing steins around 1897. By 1914 the company had produced over 800 different steins, but stein production stopped around the start of WWI and wouldn't resume until after WWII. The company ceased operations in 2009. The saying translates to something like "Enjoy life as long as the lamp burns, pick the rose before it is withered"
