My mother purchased this jug at a farm auction over 40 years ago. She gave it to me a few years ago because I always loved the piece. There are no markings, that I can see, on the bottom. There is a swirly "2" towards the top of the jug - two gallon capacity? It is highly glazed in a mottled dark brown. Any ideas of the maker? Era? Thanks so much for your help.
