I am trying to find out more about this sign. It is a wooden sign and the motorbike is carved from wood so it is 3d from the back ground and is in pretty good detail and its all hand painted. There are no markings on it on the front or the back to say who made it or anything like that. I am just trying to find out more about it, how old it is, where it came from, what its value is. If anyone could help me out that would be appreciated.

im almost sure its a reproduction

How do you tell if it's a reproduction or not? It all looks hand done wouldn't a reproduction be something that would be massed produced?

Oilman514 is on the right track, 1990's fantasy piece probably from the Phillipines. I don't think there was an original sign like this it was just made up to cash in on the mototcycle craze. I sold them out of my store, until Hobby Lobby and some of the other Decorator Stores picked up on them and flooded the market. And that is what it is, a nice decorator item.

90's doesn't seem to fit with the timeline of this sign. It used to hang on the wall of a bar that closed down in 2003 and from what I get from people who used to frequent the place it was there at least in the late 70's(of course peoples memories aren't the greatest especially those who frequented the bar as often as some of these :) ). I am still trying to contact the person who owned the bar originally but it is not proving to be easy.

if you take it to a advertising dealer they will tell you that its not old. it is what rocker-sd said it was a decorator piece probably sold at a decorating or arts and crafts store as of age i would agree the 90s or early 2000s. i looked and as i assumed there was never an original indian sign like this.

I have to agree with oilman and rocker-sd. I have been collecting advertising signs for over thirty years and have never seen a original Indian sign made by Indian like this. The Indian signs I have seen like yours was definetly a decorator or fantasy piece. I have never seen an original Indian sign like this. I like the item for what it is a nice decorator piece.

Here is a similar sign, and the seller describes it for what it is.

Unfortunately a lot of auction houses and flea market sellers pass these off as original, or just let people assume there old.
