This amazing piece has been in my family since 1959. My grandmother (an antique dealer in Illinois) bought it from an itinerant dealer. I was there, and it now come back to me. I know it is American, 19th century, and very unusual. Leading experts (seriously leading experts) have not been able to determine the pottery or maker though most agree it is likely Ohio Valley or nearby. Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
