I believe Collectors' Weekly a wonderful site. Unfortunately it does not provide for ethnic catagories other than Native American and Asian. Therefore, I have done my best to find somewhat appropriate catagories for the items in my collections. If the catagory in which you find this item seem inappropriate, I apologize (I hate the catch-all catagories).

This is a very vintage vessel from Persia. It is a soup tureen. It is the first Middle Eastern item which I have purchased. There were two at an auction and I could not resist the draw of their beauty. This is the better and the older of the two. It is a ceramic vessel with cobalt glaze. I do not know the nature of the ceramic except to say that it is not porcelain or stoneware. The metal work is absolutely beautiful, creating a most handsome vessel.

    The categories here are only limited by the people listing them (with rare exception). So, if you have more...Bring It On ! we'd love to see it.

    Also don't be bashful with your camera. You can put up 4 pics at a time. (Like top only, bottom only, bottom of base if marked, ets)

    I understand your frustration with appropriate categories, but I agree with the guys above. Use your best judgement and don't worry about it! I've had a couple of my show and tells changed to different categories by the editors and that was fine with me!
