This was found along an area creek bank half buried in the mud and near an area where arrowheads have been found in southwest Missouri... home of the Osage Indians. It is about 11 1/2" tall and quite heavy. It was not turned on a wheel... looks hand formed. It is not pottery, more of a sandstone clay. No outer glaze. Looking inside you can see rough... no even seams where the clay was hand formed. Some have suggested may be negro utilitarian jug. Any one ever see anything like it or have any definative information?

Yes... a number of colors in the glaze and the ears look applied. However... the jug is not turned on a wheel. Thanks for the link.
