I have finally got round to looking through a bag of stones that I have collected over the last few years of rooting around in the bottom of jewellery cabinets and looking for bits & bobs, I am wondering if anyone can tell me more about this stone I have picked out.

Thanks jean I have had amethyst before but have not come across this kind of quality before,I think it must be old as it was heavily soiled but looks amazing now cleaned,it must have been a beautiful ring and a decent size, the hunter in me says the metal must have been 18k to get the gold monsters to wreck a good ring.
