For PostCardCollector, who showed a couple of his old ads for similar "products" last week.

So for whatever its worth, those old ads probably *were* a rather lucrative business back then (or a little later anyways) at least for a certain subset of otherwise generally scrawny school boys...? <sigh><lol>
Took me a few days to find it but I knew it was still around someplace -- here's what you got for your $14.99 (or whatever the price was) if one actually responded to one of those ads.
"UNIVERSAL BODYBUILDING", copyright MCMLXXIV. (1974) Softcover 8-1/2" x 11" book printed mostly in black and white, about 1/2" thick. (but with unnumbered pages) Mostly contains probably rather standard instructions for a likewise probably rather standard workout program, illustrated with lots of line drawings of 'how to do things' and scattered with photos of probably then notable bodybuilders for 'inspiration'. Last pic is a handful of assorted newsletters/flyers that also came along.
Needless to say, owning this book never resulted in any 'magical muscular he-man transformations' happening in my life. Oh well, I never lived anywheres close to a beach anyways... <LOL>
