I am wondering if anyone may have an idea on the production period of the font and base? I am guessing it is from the 1960's. However the Brass Queen Ann No. 1 I believe is much older. This lamp took a lot of time to restore.
The font and base were made in the UK, as if you remove the stand/base there is a mark on the glass that states it was manufactured in U.K.
Does it simply say England or made in England or manufactured in England?
Actually it says "REGD MFG Design U.K.".
OK, that says that the design was registered which doesn't mean it was actually produced there although it probably was. Is there a diamond symbol or a series of numbers that begin with BT?
No, those are the only identifying marks on the font. There is nothing on the base. What would it be if there was a BT?
You need to have a basic understanding of the REGD system which nobody does, not even the UK and they admit it. The mark you have was used up until 1991. Without the diamond or a number it is impossible to trace the registered artist or manufacturer. They didn't require a drawing or even a narrative to register. Diamond marks are almost impossible and numbered items are almost as bad. There are 3 million items in the database pre 1991 when this mark was used and it isn't sorted. Without the number you can't identify the artist or manufacturer that registered it. Without that you have nothing.
