I recently bought this chair and was considering reupholstering it but I was told that it might be an antique. Can anyone tell me if it is or how I might find out?

Chippendale inspired, but much younger. Not much effort has been used on the carvings. First half of the 20th century perhaps. You could consider fabrics in patterns used in Chippendale times.
