      The last picture looks like it was cut with a saw and very rough rotary ground. Makes me wonder if it is actually a stone? Not sure if you ever cut a stone but they don't cut well even with a diamond blade. I sooner think this might have been some kind of gem softer than an actual stone.

      Thanks kerra great help and you might be right it looks like it was set in something it would have been a big ring or maybe something else,but guessing it was gold and maybe looked old fashioned,so had the gold melted,which is what happens to most old fashioned jewellery in London
