Dannytwofeathers, I think what you are doing is commendable.

It’s very easy for modern-day inhabitants of this land to just assume we were the first people to populate it.
In reality, we took over the land from the indigenous people before us, and did so in violent and cruel ways.

I want to see if I can generate some scholarly interest in what you are finding.
Near my home is the Etowah Indian Mounds, the most intact Mississippian Culture site in the Southeast, dating from 1000AD -1550AD.
The site is overseen by the Georgia Dept of Natural Resources as a State Historic Site. There’s a small museum there on the 50+ acre site of mounds, defensive moats, beautiful river with a fish weir, and excavations of foundations of structures.

I go there periodically, especially in a cool day when it’s pleasant to wander among the mounds and along the river.

Next trip there, I’ll see what I can can do/talk to someone in authority and get back to you with whatever their response is.

These sandstone and soapstones are all popping out of the two creeks here in my village these works are in there frameworks that were building there rock foundations and some you can see in some chimneys looking for these water finds got me excited i been so many of them and some are too heavy and left them on the bank so people can see them no help here all i been told they were all done by plows which is not true i had found many in the creek walls that collapsed and some had lines peeeking out of the enbankment and very few i found buried in the rock bed and some i dug out of the water in the creek about a 2 foot depth i can only figure out that the two areas were a special place were they can tool there stone weapons and carve there stone art and place them in the creek the one other place is about a 20 minute walk from this site it is in the muddy ca pottery reek here in my village of bethania nc i have no clue how old these works are and it is a lost art from the indigneous people i been looking for more of the past and found many finds from long ago pottery shards in the two creeks arrowheads that go back to the second ice age as the archaic period and up to the precolumbian era that includes the neolithic as well i have no help and even contacted collages for my research all i have is a drinking bowl and many many artifacts of these stones acarved by tools which i have found with some of them i can say i have found a morrow as well that layed in the creek i was told not to give up and keep doing what i have doing i am not doing no wrongs and all these finds are all 100 % waterfinds no mounds in my location just near a settlement that was discovered and had already been a archeology site that many artifacts were found no research has ever been done in the two creeks as i have done i do think i could use a helping in my search this creek and the other one i been working in have more secrets to unfold and one secret is that it was a route of the native people and seeing the trail markers tell me that this area was how they got there wzter and tribes coming together
