The bottom wire on this display was at one time the most expensive collectible barbed wire. It was valued well over $1000. Additional finds were made which lowered the value. It is known as the "plow shear" barb. It is attributed to Frank Armstrong of Bridgeport, CT patent #171,208 issued in 1875. Hagemeier #1366B.
