I found this in my great grandma's jewlery box, it looks like it's supossed to have a family or personal engraving on the face. It looks like the sides are hand engraved and I can tell it's really old becasue the other side is heavily worn out. It also has a hall mark that looks like a G, or an O or something. But I really want to know it.. is it real gold, how old is it, and is it hand engraved.

My guess is it started life looking like this (or similar):

Either a fraternal ring or a signet ring ~ too worn now to know... or matter.
Is it gold? Get it tested at a coin shop or jewelry store ~ most any will test it for free. Value is for the intrinsic metal now. Or get your own initials engraved on it and make your own personalized signet ring.
I have a Knights of Pythias ring I found similarly in my dad's tool box, but in somewhat better condition. I wear it just 'cause it was his. Or his father's. I just like the connection.
