Would Your Kids' Math Teacher Like These Apples?

This is quite the set. Four wood apples cut into 2, 3, 6 and 8 sections respectively with each section numbered accordingly - all housed in a well-made, dovetailed 8x8 inch box. I'm guessing it is for school use, but there are no identifying labels anywhere. Overall, very carefully crafted and painted.

Has anyone seen the like? The quality seems like overkill for normal school use, but I can't think of another use for the set.
