Another yard find for me. I'm pretty sure this is a cannonball. It is heavy but without a proper scale,I can't be certain of it's weight. My best guess is 2-3 lbs. I'm not sure how I measure it's circumference math was never my best subject. It's bigger than a tennis ball, bigger than a baseball and smaller than a softball.

Very interesting. Your pictures aren't that great..you could try to stick a magnet to it, that'll tell if it's iron.
Cannon balls all have specific weights and measures.
Measure circumference by placing a measuring tape around the ball at it’s widest part. No math needed. Hope that helps!
I did the magnet and it does stick.
You might search and see if there is any ball mills in the area..they use round balls to crush up stone.
I would suggest you contact a local historical society for help.

Civil war.. most common calibers included: 2.46 (which shot a 2-pound ball), 2.91 (which shot a 3-pound ball), 3.67 (which shot a 6-pound ball), 4.20 (which shot a 9-pound ball)..there's more but yours isn't that big.
