My money is it was always a wall hanger. I can't see the back but there are no holes on the sides of the frame. Not being able to see the back of it if there are no holes on the back that would indicate anything other than screw eyes were ever on the back then it most likely was never on a dresser. Great looking Silver back beautiful oak frame must weight a ton. I hope you have a real good wall mounting holding it on the wall. I've had them fall not a good thing.
