I got this from my mother when she passed away. It has a brocade or carpet seat and back. It folds. Have not refinished it and the seat shows some wear. Some of the wood needs repair, also. Any ideas on style, period or value?

This is called a sewing chair or Deck Chair, very popular in the late 1880-90's. You can find them in the rocker form as well. What it is worth depends on what condition the fabric is in. Do a google search and you can get an idea on value

I would not refinish the chair until you have it valued. It is a very classy piece.
