This is one of three early tumblers that I have depicting the early insignia for the 503rd Airborne.
The 503rd served in the Pacific theater and made several combat jumps-- the most famous of which is the Corregidor jump. After that jump the Regiment carried the nickname "The Rock" along with a new symbol.
Today the 503rd serves as part of the 173rd ABN BDE and has served in both OEF and OIF.
