I found this while cleaning out my grandfather's 'collectibles room'. I cannot identify what this jar may have been used for. It has two lids and so two openings, but one opening is smaller than the other. Does anyone know what this may have been used for??
Thanks!!

maybe an ink well to sit in a desk, bigger hole for filling to save mess, smaller for the pen?
Well, I guess I should ask what kind of vacuum cleaners do you have? I was a little nauseated at the thought of drinking from a blubber barrel, but that's how badly I would like to know what this is :)
I don't know if it would have been used as an ink well because it's a little large. But maybe they used large ink wells at some point? It's about the size of a large mayonnaise jar. Do you think they used ink wells that large?

Looks like mystery solved................really weird item, but truth can be stranger than fiction .
Cool item and the color is beautiful. I've never seen a double ended jar. You see something new everyday.
