Purchased this item on eBay as a carved stone pig. Did not pay much for it because it had a couple chips. It arrived today and is heavy like stone but it is kiln fired clay. Thinking it is a Peruvian Chimu Indian black pottery piece but not my area of expertise. The Chimu culture would make vessels like this for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. Could be from the Moche civilization; has signs of multi colour or painted clay, but the black makes me think Chimu Indian. Any experts in old kiln fired pottery? Small 4 x 3 inches.
